Deborah Greenwood, PhD, RN, BC-ADM, CDE, FAADE

Deborah is an Internationally respected expert and key opinion leader in the field of diabetes care and education. Dr. Greenwood’s unique skill set combines the evidence based/knowledge of diabetes self-management education and support (DSMES), research and clinical practice within the emerging market of digital health. Her experience includes innovative diabetes education, DSMES program management, patient engagement, consumer informatics/e-patients, patient generated health data (PGHD), digital health/mHealth and a specialized focus in social media and the emerging concept of the e-community for self-management support. 

Deborah has consulted with digital health startup companies to translate sound self-management, patient engagement, and behavior change principles into digital content and delivery with an emphasis on incorporating PGHD and activating a complete feedback loop to improve patient outcomes and quality of life. 

Deborah is a researcher with a history of grant funding & awards from both industry and government. She is experienced in conducting quantitative and qualitative research including user experience and acceptance of technology. She has published multiple papers in the field of diabetes, prevention, digital health and social media, and is an invited speaker at national and international conferences. She is a diabetes clinical nurse specialist, board certified in advanced diabetes management and certified diabetes educator. She is a past President of the American Association of Diabetes Educators.
